RECAP: Hootenanny Swim Meet (2025)

By Coach Avery:

This past weekend, we attended Hootenanny 2025 where we co-hosted with North Van Cruisers for the 3rd year in a row! Hootenanny was held at Watermania and despite the long days and packed event schedules our swimmers stepped up to the challenge. Across both days, many swimmers made it to finals, and many came away with personal bests, top finishes, and even medals. Every athlete brought their best to the pool!

We would also like to acknowledge all our amazing parent volunteers who made the meet run smoothly! Ian and Brenda as meet refs, Brent for putting in so many hours to prep and plan for the meet as meet manager and problem solving electronics and everything else throughout the weekend, Ken our head timer and jack of all trades, Steve for helping to train parents on electronics Friday night and Saturday morning, Wilson and Angie who ran marshalling so well all weekend and kept the marshaling chat updated.

Also special recognition to Wayne for helping with electronics, Caren, Sarah for supporting marshaling, Adrian and Nancy for helping announce (great job!), Gen for diving in as a new official, Isaac for lending tents and officiating and helping with set up and tear down, Amy for volunteering for any and all positions, and Dennis and Ali for all the jobs you helped out with too.

I’m probably forgetting someone as we had so many people step up to help, but thank you to all the parents for timing, setting up, tearing down and helping the meet run so well.

Overall, Hootenanny was a huge success and a great reflection of the strength, spirit, and sportsmanship of our swimmers. Congratulations to all our swimmers for racing hard, making finals, and representing Super Sharks with pride.
